Oh, you thought we were only building revolutionary screenwriting software over here at SoCreate? You must not know our founder Justin Couto very well!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my time with this company, it’s that we do nothing halfway. We won’t even stop at 99.99 percent! And that’s why regular ol’ office décor won’t do. We’re painting our own Sistine Chapel, screenwriting style.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, we can’t show you until it’s done, so you’ll have to wait and see. But here are some hints: We’ve got two full-time artists on board, and they’ve got scaffolding that’s reaching the ceiling.

Meet Carter Broad and Autumn Smith. Carter is a recent Cal Poly SLO graduate in Art and Design, and Autumn is not far behind. She’ll graduate with the same degree from Cal Poly in 2020. She just returned to SoCreate from France, where she’s been studying French (of course!) for the last year.

Since 2018, the pair has been plastering each wall to cover SoCreate’s headquarters with movie and TV scenes, script excerpts, and credit to the screenwriters who penned them. We’re creating a shrine to these writers, putting their names in permanence for visitors and team members to see every day. Talk about an inspiring reminder of why we’re building SoCreate!

Muralist Carter Broad“SoCreate’s office space is an intersection of different forms of art and technology,” Autumn said. “The space fosters aspects of these two fields, and it comes together cohesively.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself! We’re building spectacular software for creatives, and there’s no better way to immerse ourselves in what it means to be creative than truly immersing ourselves in it.

“This is an ambitious project,” Carter told me. “A lot of problem-solving moments arise when you’re trying to paint fun, dynamic images in such an unconventional space. I think the main idea is “how can we make this look as cool as possible?” which is a challenge, but it’s also what’s fun about it. I’m really excited to see how the office looks when it’s all done. I have never seen a space like this be transformed in this way.”

These two powerhouse painters are taking the challenge in stride. We’re running out of wall space! And when we do, we’ll show you what we’ve been up to.

Patience, my friends. The Mona Lisa wasn’t done in a day,
