This lesson plan integrates social studies, cultural comprehension, and SoCreate. The aim is to explore the rich tapestry of global cultures, inspiring our students to embrace their roles as global citizens, and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity.
The aim of this lesson is to help students understand and appreciate different cultures worldwide, using storytelling on the SoCreate platform.
Computer access with SoCreate, projector, and cultural references.
Two 45-minute sessions.
Start the lesson with a brief discussion about the importance of understanding and appreciating diverse cultures. Discuss different countries and their unique cultural aspects.
Introduce students to the SoCreate platform. Show them how to create a new project, add characters, dialogue, and actions.
Ask students to create characters from different cultural backgrounds. They can base their characters on people from different countries they have discussed.
In this session, students will use SoCreate to script a story about an international festival where their characters interact, learn about each other's cultures, and participate in different cultural activities.
Once the scripts are complete, have a few students share their scripts with the class. This can lead to a discussion about cultural diversity, understanding, and respect.
Assess students based on their participation in the class discussion, their understanding of cultural diversity, and the creativity and respectfulness of their script.
