We are excited to introduce our new Senior Software Engineer, Dana Desrosiers! Please help us give a warm, SoCreate welcome to our newest team member.
Dana was born and raised in Lake Forest, CA. After graduating high school, Dana made his move up the California coast to San Luis Obispo to attend Cal Poly and study Electrical Engineering. After gaining some valuable experience and taking a few courses in the Electrical Engineering department, Dana started to feel like he was heading in the wrong direction for his interests and decided to change majors to study Computer Engineering. His long-time interests in computers and programming allowed him to excel in his new major and cross the finish line as a graduate from Cal Poly with a degree in Computer Engineering.
Like many other Cal Poly students, Dana fell in love with San Luis Obispo during his college years and made the decision to stay in the area post-graduation. He landed his first job out of college as a software engineer at Shopatron (now known as Kibo) where he worked on developing their cloud-based, e-commerce platform. Dana worked for Shopatron for 8 years before joining our SoCreate team as a Senior Software Engineer!
When asked what he is looking forward to most while working here, he shared that he is excited to take his list of “Lessons Learned” from his time at Shopatron/Kibo and help our team continue improving our own cloud-based platform. His programming mindset that “Every problem is just a series of smaller problems” will be extremely helpful in guiding our developer team as they begin to tackle bigger, better challenges in making our platform the best it can possibly be!
Aside from work and software development, Dana coaches gymnastics for a local club. (His team just returned from the National Championships!) He also likes to spend his free time hiking and enjoying all of the awesome outdoor opportunities that San Luis Obispo has to offer.
We are so excited to have you on our team, Dana, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you here!
